Coal Import Substitution with Equivalent Domestic Coal

    Power Sector Consumers

    • Substitution of domestic Coal to Power sector Linked consumers using Import Coal for blending purposes.

    Non-power consumers

    • The major proportion of non-coking coal imports in the country pertains to non-power consumer, which is around 72% of the total import
    • Distribution policy envisages Coal in the ratio of 75-25 to regulated and non-regulated sectors.
    • last year, substantial increase in imports by Non Regulated sector.
    • The quantities offered under NRS linkage auction is offered to lapsing FSA consumers
    • Increased supplies to Non-Power sector consumers with a view of substantial reduction in imports.
